If you ask any cactus and succulent lover about what particular aspect of these plants they find most fascinating, "resilience" is a common response. This might not seem intuitive to a beginner whose early experiences involve seeing plants in their collection succumbing to pests, fungus or inopportune watering. However, this perspective becomes more understandable the more one learns about just how unforgiving the natural habitats of many of these plants can be - and seeing it in person is even more convincing.
